Checklist
- PIC board :: plug in the rest of the chips; program PIC and test with AMD communication.
- PALs :: test communication with AMD NET
- Wiring :: to batteries and barrier strip (power wiring)
- High-level :: test software, consult Edgar for modifications on code for new chassis design (turning).
- Sensors :: build and test pulsed sensors (mount sensors). Utilize ultra sonic range sensor.
- Interface Gripper :: gripper needs control electronics and perhaps sensors too.
Update 4/16/2004
George presented the Robotics Logo and soldered the rest of the caps. George soldered the rest of the JK power connections too. Edgar started hacking away at a streamlined code to walk the bot. The next critical step for Ben is testing the communication between the AMD NET and ...
Update 4/14/04
I figured out that I need to use REMON to reprogram the bios on the extra AMD NET boards. I couldn’t accomplish this in the lab because I needed the bios codekit and the windows machine does not have internet access. I took one of the boards home with me ...
Update 4/10/04
Jonathan and Ben tested the PIC board and found a few hardware problems. They found that the large electrolytic capacitors on one side of the board were soldered in backwards. Next meeting we will resolder the large capacitors. Ben also successfully compiled some of Jorge’s code for the robot.
Update 4/6/04
Red Hat Linux 6.2 kernel 2.2.18 (patched) installed on a 320MB laptop hard drive boots on the AMD Net board successfully.
Update 3/7/04
Apparently Stephen and Jorge have gotten as far as putting linux on Flash but I just ran into their problem: the ethernet doesn’t work. This problem makes uploading files and communicating to the board difficult. If no possible solution to the ethernet is made anytime soon we will work around ...
Update 3/4/04
Jonathan is working on optimizing the range sensor and programming the PALs. Stephen consulted us on compiling linux and using mulinux. Your linux setup will be different than what the codekit describes and don’t expect everything to work on your first try. I had to alter some parameters ...
Update 2/26/04
Ben’s been playing with linux. Anyone out there with linux skillz? We need people who are fluent in Linux and can install mulinux on the AMD board. Codekit 59 and instructions. Please read the readme.pdf. The kernel is old so you might need to run it on an ...
Update 2/25/04
Jonathan and Edgar met and went over the hi-level code. George and Ben worked on wiring. Stephen stopped by to refresh us about linux. Ben stayed afterwards to finish the wiring. The range sensor is looking better.
